About

This is the Johannesburg City Brass Quintet!

Johannesburg City Brass was founded in the mid-seventies and at the time was a 28-piece brass band. The band was funded by the Johannesburg Municipality and played at several city functions as well as other corporate events. Over the years, however, the numbers dwindled and by the turn of the century, the band had ceased functioning.

About three years ago, the brand was revived in the form of a brass quintet. In its new format the group has played at corporate functions and charity events. The group's repertoire covers a wide range of music genres such as Classical, Traditional, Broadway, Contemporary, Military Marches and Wedding/Church music.

The players are:

Mpumelelo Moletsane - Cornet

Khathutshelo Munyai - Cornet

Lucky Moletsane - Euphonium

Khotso Tshepang Mabotja - Trombone

Gavin Blackwood - Tuba
